Welcome to Soma Lab: Somatic Therapy and Nervous System Support in Kansas City
Welcome to Soma Lab!
This rebrand has been on my heart for a while, and it is more than a fresh coat of paint on my business. It is a reflection of how my work and the people I serve have grown. What I have learned is that healing is not just about talking through hard things. It is about tending to the body, where so much of our story lives. Soma Lab is a space where we honor that truth together, and I am so glad you are here.
What’s in a name?
The word soma comes from the Greek word for “body.” In Somatic Experiencing® (SE) and other body-based modalities, we work from a framework that stress and trauma don’t just live in our minds. They are stored in the body and nervous system. So truly healing from the hardest parts of our stories requires us to acknowledge that our bodies lived through those things as much as our brains did and to care for that well.
The word lab reflects our approach to the process. Do you remember when you were a kid how you thought science class was going to be? Not the version you actually lived through in high school, but the one you saw on TV and the movies. Do you remember how cool it seemed like it would be to run an experiment? This kind of curiosity and exploration is what we are all about in this work together. Unlike science class, there are no right or wrong answers here because there is no one size fits all approach to how heal. So we get to know your nervous system and see what really makes it feel safe and connected. Every nervous system has its own pace and wisdom, and we get to honor that while bringing curiosity and compassion on the journey to lasting change.
Nervous System Support and Somatic Therapy Services
At Soma Lab, I work with people both in the Kansas City area and virtually. Everyone has a nervous system, and whether you have experienced trauma, overwhelm, burnout, or are navigating the everyday stressors of life, all of our nervous systems can sometimes get stuck in survival mode or need a little bit of love. That might look like feeling on edge, shut down, endless doom-scrolling, putting off things you know you need to get done, or any number of things. We’ve all got our go-to strategies for how we respond when things are feeling like they’re too much. Through a somatic lens, your nervous system is doing its job but it might need a little help finding balance again.
This is where my work comes in. I offer several ways to support nervous system regulation and trauma healing:
Nervous System Support: An accessible entry point for anyone wanting practical tools for regulation and connection. This work blends education about how the nervous system functions with gentle, body-based practices, supporting stress relief, burnout recovery, and everyday grounding.
Somatic Healing: A deeper trauma-healing approach that draws on Somatic Experiencing® principles and other body-based practices. It helps your nervous system gently process and integrate overwhelm at your body’s pace, supporting long-term trauma resolution and resilience.
Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP): A listening therapy using specially filtered music to support emotional resilience, social engagement, and a felt sense of safety. SSP helps shift the nervous system toward greater regulation and connection.
Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP): A listening therapy that uses rhythmic entrainment to help your body naturally shift out of survival mode and back into a “rest and digest” state, inviting balance and restoration.
Somatic EMDR: A trauma-informed approach integrating body awareness and somatic principles, aligning with how trauma is stored and processed, supporting deeper healing while respecting your nervous system’s capacity.
All services are grounded in polyvagal-informed, trauma-sensitive practices, because real healing can only really happen when your body feels safe enough to shift.
Why the Rebrand Matters
I love coaching. I have a puzzle brain and coaching work is very much focused on problem solving. But as I’ve done this work,I’ve noticed that the top-down approach of talking and problem solving doesn’t always bring the healing that we’re looking for. I also saw that my clients needed support across a spectrum that ranges from practical tools with more coaching to deeper trauma healing where we are working with the body and the nervous system to learn that we’re safe and that the hard parts of our story aren’t a part of our current day lives. Soma Lab reflects that full range. The name, approach, and offerings all align with my vision of helping people engage with their bodies and nervous systems in meaningful, practical ways to bring real, long-term healing.
